Terms of Use

Last updated: 8 June 2026

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the website operated by Expert Country Reports at expertcountryreports.co.uk (“the Website”). By using the Website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.

1. About us

Expert Country Reports provides independent country condition reports and expert witness services for UK asylum and immigration proceedings, including before the First-tier Tribunal, Upper Tribunal, and UK courts. We are based in London, United Kingdom.

2. No legal advice

The content on this Website is provided for general information only. It does not constitute legal advice, immigration advice, or expert opinion. You should not rely on Website content as a substitute for advice from a qualified legal representative.

Nothing on this Website creates a solicitor–client relationship, expert witness appointment, or contractual obligation between you and Expert Country Reports.

3. Website use

You agree to use the Website lawfully and not to:

  • submit false, misleading, or malicious information through our forms;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or data;
  • use automated tools to scrape, overload, or disrupt the Website;
  • copy, reproduce, or distribute Website content without our prior written consent, except for personal, non-commercial use or as permitted by law; or
  • use the Website in any way that infringes the rights of others or applicable law.

We may suspend or restrict access to the Website where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached.

4. Enquiries

Submitting a contact form does not constitute a formal instruction or create any obligation on Expert Country Reports to accept work. We aim to respond to enquiries promptly, though response times may vary.

All enquiries are handled in strict confidence. We will not share your information with the Home Office, UKVI, or any government body without your express consent, except where required by law.

5. Expert witness instructions

A formal expert witness instruction arises only when:

  • you submit an instruction through our instruction form (or by written agreement);
  • we confirm expert availability, scope, and terms in writing; and
  • you accept our fee proposal and terms of instruction.

Until these steps are completed, no expert witness relationship exists. Specific terms governing individual instructions — including scope, fees, timelines, cancellation, and deliverables — will be set out in our written terms of instruction or engagement letter for each matter.

6. Fees and payment

Fee information provided on the Website is indicative only. Formal fees are confirmed in our written fee proposal following review of your instruction. Payment terms will be specified in our terms of instruction. We may accommodate legal aid funded matters where appropriate prior authority or funding arrangements are in place.

7. Confidentiality

We treat all instruction and enquiry information as confidential. Case details, personal data, and sensitive information submitted through the Website are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for ensuring that any information you submit does not breach the confidentiality obligations owed to third parties, including your clients, unless you are authorised to disclose it.

8. Intellectual property

All content on this Website — including text, design, logos, and layout — is owned by or licensed to Expert Country Reports and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Expert reports and deliverables commissioned through formal instruction are governed by the terms of that instruction, not these Website terms.

9. Accuracy of information

We make reasonable efforts to ensure Website content is accurate and current. Country condition information changes frequently. Website content is not a substitute for a bespoke expert report prepared for a specific case. We do not warrant that all information on the Website is complete, current, or error-free.

10. Third-party links

The Website may contain links to third-party websites (for example, GOV.UK or support organisations). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of third-party sites. Links are provided for convenience only.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Expert Country Reports shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from:

  • your use of, or inability to use, the Website;
  • reliance on general information published on the Website;
  • temporary unavailability of the Website; or
  • unauthorised access to data transmitted over the internet, except where caused by our negligence.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law. Liability in respect of commissioned expert witness services is governed by the terms of the relevant instruction, not these Website terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from use of the Website, subject to any mandatory rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. The “Last updated” date will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the Website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
